From survey and structural preparation to heavy-duty stainless steel floor channels and high-care impact protection — one project, one point of contact.
Before starting work, we surveyed the existing situation and advised on the new floor drainage and the structural modifications required.
We then removed the existing floors, partly by machine breaking and partly by sawing. The recesses needed for the new floor channels and sewage lines were sawn and excavated.
To achieve optimal adhesion with the new concrete, all sawn edges were carefully roughened. In addition, we drilled holes in the existing floor at 150 mm centres, into which steel reinforcement dowels were bonded.
A concrete base layer of approximately 150 mm was first applied in the recesses. On top of this, we installed the new stainless steel floor channels with precision and restored the reinforcement around them. Eterno then finished the recesses with fibre-reinforced concrete.
All channels were supplied in our heavy-duty design and fitted with hinged plate gratings. This makes the channels easy to access and allows them to be cleaned quickly and thoroughly.
Alongside the floor drainage, Sandstra RVS installed a range of high-care impact kerbs and bollards. After placement these were completely filled with concrete for a strong and durable construction.
Part of the new impact kerbs were placed over existing concrete kerbs. This transformed the existing situation into a hygienic and easily cleanable solution.
In these kerb-over-kerb situations we filled the impact kerbs with grout instead of concrete. Thanks to the better flow properties of grout, complete filling is achieved even in confined spaces, preventing voids.
The project at Van Koolen was carried out in collaboration with Eterno and Stonhard, in close consultation with Mr Koen Koolen.
By combining structural preparation, stainless steel floor drainage, concrete work and high-care impact protection, we delivered a robust, hygienic and easily cleanable situation suitable for intensive daily use.
We are happy to visit your site, assess the existing situation and provide tailored advice.
